Migrating to West Palm Beach

We were called snow birds when we left Michigan’s cold winter and headed for our small beach house in West Palm Beach, Florida. Now we have decided to make Florida our permanent retirement home. As everyone knows this is the place to retire. In fact, this state seems to be set up especially for senior citizens. As a result, we contacted professional re-modeling experts to help us with our needs and desires in up-grading our old beach cottage.

We modernized the kitchen with the latest in stoves, sinks and cupboards as well as widening a few doors as special consideration for convenience as we get older (and may need easier access all around).

We then turned our garage into a guest room for our children and grandchildren to enjoy when they visit. Utilizing cork floors for their sound proofing effects as well as insect protection, plus cork is easier on the joints as you walk. This room also has an extra bathroom which increases the value of the house (in total, the room and extra bath increased it by 50 percent). It also has a sitting room, with a wet bar (or soda fountain) so the room can be used for more serious entertaining. A game table rounds out this addition.

One can access the new garage from this room for washer/dryer use. Also it overlooks our pool and has an outdoor entrance for swimming or easy get-aways. We added a cabana/dressing room with stall shower and toilet facilities for the comfort of our frequent guests. We find that we entertain more and more these days and our new additions have only added to our overall enjoyment.
