On a dramatic site, with view of the San Francisco Bay, this house was comfortable but, blend and very ordinary. And, it did not at all take advantage of the view they have. The owners are artists. Husband a stone sculptor, wife works in metal and ceramic. They need studio spaces and liked to remodel the existing home. They liked a house in the Berkeley Hills they noticed while it was being built. They knocked on the door of the house, asked for the architect and got in touch with me. When I saw the house, listened to their story and saw the life style they have i decided that, of course, we should do all that they had in mind but we must turn this house into a place of drama and flare, a life style of artistic work, display and entertainment. We succeeded beyond our most extravagant expectation.
